Prosecutor: Jersey Shore Chaplain Lured Young Girl For Sex

A 64-year-old chaplain from the Jersey Shore tried to lure a young girl to his house to have sex, authorities said.

Edgar Finol-Carrillo of Asbury Park approached a minor and gave her a letter inviting her to his residence to engage in sexual activity, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Shortly after receiving this letter on Nov. 6, the Asbury Park Police Department was contacted and quickly apprehended the suspect, Gramiccioni said.

He has been charged with attempted luring and endangering the welfare of a child, the prosecutor said.

Finol-Carrillo was being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in

Freehold Township pending a detention hearing tentatively set for Thursday before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Paul X. Escandon.

Investigators said they are seeking additional details about Finol-Carrillo’s activities.
